Wintering in The Great Smoky Mountains
Marble, North Carolina, located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, offers you a great view of winter as you imagine it to be. You can take great advantage of it, when you’re spending your time at the Valley River RV Resort. While we’re partial to our mountains any time of year, there’s something particularly majestic about snowcapped mountains.
Getting Out
While it can be tempting to spend your time indoors during the winter months, you’ll find that you aren’t quite getting the most out of your stay. There are a lot of mountains and a lot of snow, so you can probably guess what some suggestions for things to do will be. You guessed it, skiing, snow tubing, and winter hiking.
Starting Out
You can find any number of good places to snow tube and ski if you’re a veteran of the experience, but for novices you may find that it is easier to set up with a ski resort of some sort. There are a few good resorts in the area. One is the Cataloochee Ski Area located in Maggie Valley. They offer lessons if you’re interested in learning to snowboard or ski.
Even if you’re a little more experienced a refresher may help before you hit the Cat Cage Terrain Park. You can also try out the Tube World portion of their experience which offers the excitement of riding down a specially made slope in an inner tube. If you’re primarily interested in tubing, you can try out Scaly Mountain Outdoor Center over in Scaly Mountain.
