An RV Industry Checkup
Obviously, we’re always interested in the how the RV industry is doing, any responsible business is, after all. However, we also like to know what is going on and see if it accords with our own experiences. Here at the Great Smoky Mountains Valley River RV Resort, we’ve noticed that there seems to be a new breed of RV owner, the 18 to 34 set.
New Faces In the RV Industry
We’re not sure where the time has gone, but the entire Millennial generation is now 18 and older. There was a lot of worry in various industries about how that generation was going to destroy every aspect of the economy. After all, they weren’t spending money and going out and doing things.
Of course, the media didn’t seem to reflect on the fact that most of the generation were too young to have jobs or make any money. Now that Millennials are old enough to have jobs and to have earned some cash, they’re falling into similar spending patterns as their parents and grandparents.
Recreational Vehicles
That brings us to RVs. The industry was in a bit of a slump for awhile there in the late 2000s. Fortunately, it has bounced back stronger than before and in the latest quarter showed an 17.2% growth. Much of this growth was pushed along by Millennials. They’re starting to arrive and have money to spend.
RVs let them spend less time finding a place to stay and take more control over their vacations. This is great news because while we do love to see familiar faces, there’s something great about meeting new people and hearing their stories.
