Wine and Dine
If you’re at all into wine, you know that you simply cannot do better than spending some time at a local vineyard. If you’ve not yet gotten into wine, wineries are also a great place to get started in the hobby. If you’re interested in getting a taste of southern Appalachia, why not try out the Valley River Vineyard and Winery. Begun in 1997 in Andrews, NC it finally opened in 2006 and offers French hybrid and native grapes. You might also consider trying Nottely River Valley Vineyards. They offer “Old World Style, Hand-Crafted” wines like those found in Europe
Brew
While wine is a great thing, it isn’t everyone’s interest. That’s okay, you’ll probably enjoy spending some time at the local breweries. One such brewery is the Happy Trout Brewery Company based in Andrews, NC. They brew all their beer on premises and work strictly with small batches of 31 gallons at a time.
They’re always experimenting with their beers, ncluding hot peppers, sea salt, and cake batter! They’re also a full-service pizza restaurant and you can’t really go wrong with that.
